Grayson Perry Has Seen the Future
Series begins 9pm, Wednesday 15th April, Channel 4
This two-part series finds artist Sir Grayson Perry in California, on a mission to understand how Silicon Valley’s booming tech industries are likely to shape, for good and ill, our human future. He focusses particularly on artificial intelligence, AI, because he believes it might be the biggest revolution of all, affecting almost every aspect of our lives.
Travelling all around the beautiful Bay Area, and assisted by an increasingly chummy chatbot, Grayson meets everyone from leading players in the industry to idealistic young start-up founders, as well as ordinary people who are adopting the latest innovations, and alarmed critics of the direction AI is taking us. It proves to be a mind-warping journey into the future.
As Grayson helps us understand just what Silicon Valley’s visionary technology is capable of, every encounter he has will raise profound questions in your mind about what it is to be human. They’re questions which will find expression in an artwork Grayson will create, inspired by his California adventure.
