British Museum Films

This year, Swan Films collaborated with the British Museum to make a series of online films, marking the opening of a new gallery for the Waddesdon Bequest.

The Waddesdon Bequest is a superb collection of nearly 300 objects, left to the British Museum in 1898 by Baron Ferdinand Rothschild. It consists of exceptionally important and beautiful medieval and Renaissance pieces, as well as a number of 19th-century fakes.

The films focus on key objects in the collection and explore what these items meant to Baron Ferdinand Rothschild, who first gathered them together in the Smoking Room of great country house, Waddesdon Manor.

A story of ambition and  discernment, the films include contributions from the Rothschild family, former Director of the British Museum, Neil MacGregor, curators, and artists Grayson Perry and Edmund De Waal.
